Especially for Sessional Teachers (Adjuncts)If Bond University contracted you to teach a set number of subjects in a designated semester then you are considered a sessional. The major difference between sessional and other university educators is that sessionals have time-limited contracted responsibilities, as opposed to full-time ongoing roles. The University values the contribution of its sessional staff to university teaching and learning - you are hired for your discipline-specific expertise
- you may be working in industry while teaching for the university on a part-time basis, thus richly integrating work and learning
- you bring up-to-date knowledge and skills to your teaching.
Bond recognises that you may experience different challenges from those of your full-time colleagues - Communication is often problematic, as you miss many of the ongoing informal on-campus conversations
- It can be challenging to navigate administrative processes, such as grade submission processes
- You may feel set apart from the university culture and context, and not feel fully respected for your contribution to teaching and learning
The information, resources, and links on this webpage have been specifically designed for you, as sessionally employed university teachers. We also encourage exploration of other pages of this website. Useful Links
