iLearn@Bond

iLearn@Bond is the name given to Bond University’s Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS).

iLearn allows students and staff to access learning materials, support resources and administrative tools quickly and easily. With its built-in content management, communication, and assessment tools iLearn@Bond provides a powerful online environment for collaboration and learning.

Apart from the anywhere, anytime access to learning materials, lecturers at Bond have utilised some of the advanced aspects of iLearn to conduct computer-assisted examinations, run problem based learning scenarios and share rich media resources.

 

Tools and Integrations

Turnitin - allows staff to check students' work for improper citation or potential plagiarism by comparing it against continuously updated databases. Every Originality Report provides lecturers with the opportunity to teach their students proper citation methods as well as instructors to safeguard students' academic integrity.

Mobile Learn - allows staff and students to access iLearn from a range of mobile devices.

CafeScribe - enables students to buy, and read digital textbooks from within their Subject sites.

TurningPoint - provides educators with a means to integrate their iLearn class list with the TurningPoint Audience response system, which allows students to participate and give feedback during face-to-face lectures and tutorials.

EvaluationKit - provides a means for online submission of subject and educator evaluations (TEVALs).

McGraw-Hill - integrates media-rich textbook resources into iLearn, allowing students to emerse themselves in the content in a range of ways.

Mediasite - allows students to access their lecture recordings directly from their iLearn sites.

Subject Outlines - incorporates all available subject outlines into iLearn sites automatically.

Twitter Content Extension - allows educators to setup Twitter hashtags and provide an avenue for students to contribute from their iLearn site.

 

 

Upgrade Schedule

Bond is currently using Blackboard 9.1.6. An upgrade to 9.1.8 is planned for December/January 2012.

Situated iLearn@Bond Faculty Support for Staff

iLearn support staff are located in each faculty. They provide lecturers with assistance in accessing and building a new iLearn site, as well as responding to queries about the tools and features within the system. Visit the Teaching with Technology tab on the iLearn@Bond portal to find the iLearn Faculty Support liason for your faculty.

Office of Learning and Teaching iLearn@Bond Support

The OLT supports Bond teachers to enhance their blended learning design through using the content, communications, and assessment tools within iLearn@Bond to enhance student learning. Central and faculty based workshops are run each semester, as well as one-to-one sessions and situated drop-in days tailored to Bond staff’s needs. These academic development opportunities have been designed for both new Bond staff and those who want to explore the new digital tools and latest teaching approaches.
