Peer Observation of Teaching (POT)

The Office of Learning and Teaching invites you to be part of a program of continuing professional development for teaching academics. Peer Observation of Teaching (POT) provides the opportunity for teaching academics to observe one another teaching their timetabled subjects and provide feedback and suggestions.

Endorsed by the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA) and inspired to extend POT beyond Foundations of Learning and Teaching participants, Bond supports the facilitation of Peer Observation of Teaching as an appropriate use of University resources.

Peer Observation of Teaching participants include any teaching educators at Bond including Tutors, Assistant, Associate and full Professors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to participate in the POT program?
All tutors and lecturers, sessional and contract, can take part in POT.

What do I have to do?
As a POT participant you will have the opportunity to be observed teaching your timetabled lectures or tutorials, as well as observing others, both within your Faculty and across campus.

When does POT run?
In Semester 2 the Office of Quality, Teaching, and Learning facilitates a led POT Program. You can register for this in April. You will be matched up with POT partners. The program includes an orientation session and practice live observation, four lecture observations (two observing, two observed) in timetabled classes, and a debrief focus group at the end of semester. In Semesters 1 and 3 the POT resources are available on our web pages for you to participate in self guided POT.

Does POT contribute to my PDR?
You can include POT information on your Professional Development Reviews (PDR). If you participate in the guided POT program you will be credited with six service hours.

To register your interest in the POT program please email your Name, Faculty and Availability. If being observed please provide the Room location and Subject as well. Details can be emailed to Kayleen Wood. The following information will be updated on this website regularly.
