Students undertaking the Entrepreneurship major at Bond University’s School of Business have been given a unique insight into the business world from the Managing Director of a thriving company.
Successful entrepreneur Nick Lake spent time talking with the students about his business and provided insight into strategies his business has implemented, challenges they have faced and opportunities for the future.
Mr Lake established Nickel Energy, a solar specialist company, in 2008. Within three years he has turned his business into a multimillion dollar success story.
“I started the business in my garage and we have come a long way since then. I now have over 35 employees and expect to turnover in excess of $14 million this year. And I am hoping to double that next year,” Mr Lake said.
The School of Business has developed significant links with many local businesses to ensure the students get firsthand knowledge of strategies being applied in the business world.
From Mr Lake’s presentation, the students were able to get an understanding of one person’s successful entrepreneurship journey, while being able to identify how the theories they have learnt in the classroom have been applied.
“It was a great opportunity to come along and talk to these enthusiastic students. From the thoughtful questions they were asking, I’m sure they will be the next lot of entrepreneurs who will make their mark in the near future,” Mr Lake said.
