School of Information Technology
Recommended Study Program – Undergraduate – January 2008 Semester
Bachelor of Information Technology
Unless students have advanced standing for studies at a previous University, the Bachelor of Information Technology degree will consist of 24 subjects. The structure of the degree is:
- 4 Core Cluster Subjects
- 8 Foundation Subjects
- 5 Discipline Major Subjects
- 5 IT Elective Subjects (which may also be used to complete a second major)
- 2 General Elective Subjects (these subjects may be taken within the Faculty of Business, Technology or Sustainable Development or from any other Faculty.
The recommended enrolment for students commencing full-time study in the January 2008 Semester is:
- 1 Subject from the Communication Core Cluster (1 Lecture and 1 Tutorial)
- CORE 11-111 Business Application of IT (1 Lecture and 1 Computer Lab)
- 2 of the following 3 subjects:
INFT11-110 Introduction to Programming (1 Lecture, 1 Supplementary Lecture and 1 Computer Lab)
INFT11-125 Database Management (1 Lecture and 1 Computer Lab)
INFT11-150 Analytical Toolkit (1 Lecture and 1 Computer Lab)
Bachelor of Business Systems
Unless students have advanced standing for studies at a previous University, the Bachelor of Business Systems degree will consist of 24 subjects. The structure of the degree is:
- 4 Core Cluster Subjects
- 8 Information Technology Subjects
- 8 Business Subjects
- 4 General Elective Subjects (these subjects may be taken within the Faculty of Business, Technology or Sustainable Development or from any other Faculty.

Recommended Study Program – Postgraduate – January 2008 Semester
Master of Information Technology
Unless students have advanced standing for studies at graduate level at a previous University, the Master of Information Technology degree will consist of 12 subjects. The degree consists of:
- 4 Foundation Subjects
- 8 IT Elective IT Subjects
