Welcome MIEKE VAN DRIEL - Professor of General Practice

Dutch-born Professor van Driel worked as a GP in The Netherlands and has a Diploma of Tropical Medicine, a Masters in Public Health, and a PhD in Medical Sciences.

The extremely well travelled Mieke van Driel is new to both Bond and the Gold Coast, having arrived here in early 2008.

Prof van Driel is the founder and Editor in Chief of a journal for evidence-based medicine in Belgium and the author of a glossary for evidence-based medicine in Dutch and French.

She has worked for primary health care assistance projects in Asia (China/Tibet, Cambodia) and in Ruanda, Africa, for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

She previously taught evidence-based medicine courses at Ghent University in Belgium.

At Bond, Prof van Driel hopes to use her experiences to contribute to the fascinating medical curriculum.

“I want to share my passion for teaching and research with students and colleagues, which crosses the boundaries of disciplines and regions,” she said.
