The Student Philanthropy Council is proud to launch the 2013 Academic Support Fund. Made possible by the support of alumni donations from the 2012 Annual Fund, the Academic Support Fund assists current Bond University students facing genuine financial hardship by providing laptop and textbook bursaries to help them undertake their studies. ValueIn 2013, the Academic Support Fund will distribute: - 105 Textbook bursaries – Up to 35 book vouchers per semester, valued at $300 each.
- 30 Laptop bursaries – Up to 10 laptop subsidies per semester, valued at $500 each.
EligibilityBond University students (full-time, part-time) that are currently enrolled in a Bond University undergraduate or postgraduate degree are eligible to apply. Other factors considered include: - Financial hardship
- Academic merit
- Demonstrated commitment to study
Applicants may apply for both a Book Bursary and a Laptop Bursary concurrently. Applications that are late, incomplete or fail to meet application requirements in any way will not be considered. Selection PanelThe Student Philanthropy Council, in conjunction with the Office of Development & External Relations and Financial Services, will shortlist applicants to be considered by the Selection Panel, which will consist of: - Executive Director of Development & External Relations
- Alumni Relations Manager
- Chair, Student Philanthropy Council
- Financial Services Representative
Bursary recipients will be notified via email by Week 13. Accessing FundsIf you are successful in obtaining a Textbook Bursary, an account will be created with the Bond University Book Shop in your name with a $300 credit. If you are successful in obtaining a Laptop Bursary, approved funds will be deposited into a bank account of your choosing on a reimbursement basis. Reimbursement will only be made where a receipt for the purchased laptop is able to be provided. If you are unable to fund the purchase of a laptop until reimbursement is paid and can demonstrate financial difficulty in doing so, please contact the Student Philanthropy Council to arrange an appointment to discuss. Funds are not transferable and cannot be used for any purpose other than what has been approved. Bursaries not claimed during the year for which they are awarded will be forfeited.
