Bond College

Student Mentoring

Bond College offers a uniquely personalised approach with close student monitoring and an open door policy.

Students are encouraged to approach teaching and administration staff if they feel they need assistance. In addition, teacher feedback on student’s progress is given to the College Director in weeks three and six, followed by student interviews in weeks four and eight, which cover the student’s academic progress and attendance behaviour.

Academic and intellectual skills like information literacy, clear thinking, reasoning, time management, assignment writing, referencing and paraphrasing, and studying at an Australian university, are built into the program.

Extra Academic Skills sessions are available to students, with free English language assistance one day per week. These sessions are mostly voluntary, while some students may be recommended to attend to assist with their studies.

Supervised study sessions allow students time to work on their own in the computer laboratory, under the supervision of the teacher. Students are free to work on revision material, tutorial and homework exercises, or their assignments, under the guidance of their teacher.

The Bond College assessment regime is also focused on the student.
First semester subjects include small assessment tasks in the early weeks, in order for both student and teacher to obtain feedback on the students’ progress. Later in the semester, assessments include a larger assignment and an exam weighted no more than 40%.

These programs and extra assistance are provided to offer students a safe comfortable environment in which to conduct their studies, where students are mentored and encouraged to excel.
