Career Success

The unique value of Bond’s world-class educational experience can be tangibly measured by the success of our graduates.

Graduates of the Doctor of Physiotherapy gain employment in both the private and public sectors in hospital and community settings following graduation. Graduates enter the workforce with clinical, research, advocacy and leadership skills. International graduates are able to register in Australia, and on completion of any entrance requirements for registration are eligible to work in their home country.

Professional Outcomes

The Doctor of Physiotherapy produces graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills to seek registration as physiotherapists in Australia. Graduates are able to demonstrate the ability to:

  • Meet the requirements of the Australian Physiotherapy Competency Standards.
  • Use integrated knowledge of clinical, pathological and related science areas.
  • Effectively communicate / apply interpersonal skills in a variety of settings with varied age-groups / stakeholders
  • Plan an appropriate patient examination,
  • Seek relevant information and interpret findings,
  • Diagnose the cause of movement problems
  • Provide appropriate advice / management within the scope of physiotherapy practice
  • Recognise limitations and initiative referral when the problem is outside our scope of practice
  • Understand and apply a holistic approach to patient management.
  • Be analytical and reflective during clinical practice and to use evidence to inform clinical decisions and practice.
  • Lead and advocate for the needs of special groups within the local/global community
  • Participate in all stages of clinical research in collaboration with academic / clinical staff and an ability to communicate findings in oral / written formats
  • Provide effective health promotion and prevention advice and management strategies.
  • Commit to the highest standards of ethical practice and to a lifelong learning approach to professional life.

Advocacy

Graduates have gained experience in advocacy through:

  • supporting the educational needs of of physiotherapy students in Tanzania .
  • promoting the health needs of indigenous Australians,
  • and networking with specific community organisations advocating for those with special needs .

Further Study

Qualifications in Physiotherapy can also be applied to further research-based studies through the Faculty’s research programs at the Masters and PhD level.  

Industry Accreditation

Bond University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy program has been accredited as an entry-level program by the Australian Physiotherapy Council and is listed as an approved program of study by The Physiotherapy Board of Australia

Career Planning

Extensive clinical experience is incorporated in the curriculum of the Doctor of Physiotherapy program. The Physiotherapy team are happy to discuss clinical experience and post graduation career opportunities with each of their students. The on-campus Career Development Centre offers an additional source of key employer contacts and online job listings on the Career Hub web portal.
