Professional Outcomes

The urban design and sustainability focus of Bond’s program is geared towards one of the most rapidly developing areas of planning practice. State and local government opportunities for planners are strong in several areas including integrated transport planning, affordable housing strategy development, regional planning and various aspects of urban design. Planning and urban design consultancies value professionals with the strong analytical, place design and negotiation skills developed in the program. Extensive opportunities also exist in property development and community organisations.

Further Study

Bond’s offers a suite of articulated postgraduate programs in Urban Planning allowing students to complete four subjects to attain a Graduate Certificate; an additional four subjects for a Postgraduate Diploma; and the full 12 subjects for a Masters degree. Students may also continue on to research-based projects at the PhD level.

Industry Accreditation

The combined Bachelor of Urban Design and Planning and the Master of Urban Planning have interim accreditation by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA). International accreditation for this degree has also been achieved with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Career Planning

The Mirvac School of Sustainable Development offers the services of an Industry and Student Placement Officer who is dedicated to assisting students add value to their study by undertaking an internship or work experience placement. Your Faculty Advisor and individual professors can help you arrange industry-based internships and work placements through their network of contacts. The on-campus Career Development Centre offers an additional source of key employer contacts and online job listings on the Career Hub web portal.
