Master of Construction Practice (Professional)
Duration: 1 year 9 months full-time (5 semesters +).
Starting: January, May, September
Program Description
The Master of Construction Practice (Professional) has been designed for international students who are considering applying for permanent residency in Australia. The degree includes the same subjects as the Master of Construction Practice, which teaches students from any background how to manage building projects – from physical execution to financial analysis and funding. It focuses on the organisation and management of project resources (people, process, products, energy, finance, space) to deliver building projects on time, within cost, and of the defined scope and quality.
There is an additional subject in this program (Work Integrated Learning) which is designed to promote student learning and professional practice. Students participate in a series of experiential exercises that may include field trips, guest lecturers from industry leaders, and projects. The subject facilitates students’ ability to apply theoretical knowledge to solve practical workplace problems.
Work Experience and Internships
Internships and work placements are encouraged. They provide students with the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge learnt while studying and maximise opportunities for career progression after they complete their studies. An Industry Placements Officer assists students in sourcing work experience and internship opportunities.
Professional Outcomes
You will be equipped with a range of skills including project management, people management, construction techniques, materials, plant and equipment knowledge, cost and time awareness, client relations, safety and law, and most particularly, an all-encompassing knowledge of sustainable development.
Professional Recognition
This program has international accreditation with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, national accreditation with the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and satisfies the Building Services Authority’s technical requirements for an Open Builder’s License in Queensland.
