Description
The Master of Information Technology (Professional) offers graduates of any discipline the opportunity to acquire a professional qualification in information technology. The foundation subjects provide you with the background knowledge to confidently operate within an IT environment and associated business setting. The elective subjects provide you with the specialist skills required for professional IT pathways.
Work Integrated Learning
Work Integrated Learning subject is a 20 week 45 credit point subject consisting of a placement or a workplace project. The 45 credit points can be completed either as a one semester placement in your final semester of enrolment or alternatively you can complete 15 credit points over your final three semesters. Both options are subject to the availability of placements and requirements of industry partners. The Faculty reserves the right to decide which mode is available/offered although you may have a preference.
Work Experience & Internships
The School of Information Technology (SIT) acknowledges the importance of practical experience and the application of knowledge to live scenarios as valuable graduate attributes for graduates entering the ICT industry. To this end, the SIT offers opportunities for the student to either undertake an Industry project or work integrated learning as part of a student’s program of studies or as an additional non credited work experience option.
The SIT has a comprehensive Internship and work integrated learning program that optimises the relationships that the SIT has with the ICT Industry and its complementary partners. It is our aim to assign projects, where possible, that not only provides valuable experiences for the student but has deliverables that is beneficial to the Industry partner as well.
Professional Recognition
The Master of Information Technology (Professional) program is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) at Professional level.
Professional Outcomes
The Master of information Technology (Professional) program provides students with the technical skills for careers in the information technology industry or with IT intensive organisations, including government and business enterprises.
