Master of Laws (Legal Practice)
Duration: 2 Semesters Full-Time; Flexible Part-Time Available
Description
The Master of Laws (Legal Practice) is an innovative program, which combines practical legal training (the PLT) with specialist postgraduate subjects in alternative dispute resolution or advocacy. The PLT program develops ‘lawyering’ skills, such as legal research, analysis and problem solving, legal writing and drafting, interviewing and oral communication, advising, advocacy, dispute resolution, professional ethics and conduct, and accounting. You are taught in a practical context in a simulated office environment.
Professional Recognition
The PLT program is modelled on the New South Wales Law Society’s professional program and is fully accredited by the admission authorities in New South Wales and Queensland. Mutual recognition legislation facilitates the process of practitioners admitted in one state seeking admission in other Australian jurisdictions.
Professional Outcomes
The Master of Laws (Legal Practice) program entitles you to be admitted as a solicitor in Queensland or NSW.
