Bachelor of Exercise Science

Description
The Bachelor of Exercise Science provides you with a solid understanding of the basic, clinical and applied sciences. The primary focus of the program is how the body responds differently to various exercise doses. You will learn how to measure these differences in order to recommend optimal exercise doses in the treatment of diseases, such as cardiovascular conditions. Learning strategies include a mix of lectures, tutorials and practical sessions using problem solving, case studies and clinical reasoning.
The Bachelor of Exercise is one of the preferred pathways for entry into Bond University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy* program.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
Bond University has a specialist Sports Science Laboratory, which is fitted with:
- state-of-the-art gas analysis systems that measure oxygen consumption;
- electronic bikes to measure high performance in elite athletes;
- an Innocor machine which measures cardiac output during exercise and related monitoring of an electrocardiograph; and
- extensive biochemistry resources to measure the exercise response in high performance athletes.
Work Experience & Internships
Students enrolled in a Bachelor of Exercise Science will undertake 100 hours of professional clinical experience in the subject Clinical Exercise Testing II (SPEX13-317).

Professional Outcomes
The Bachelor of Exercise Sciences will produce graduates who are critical thinkers, with a strong understanding of human biology and can communicate effectively with patients.
You will have the opportunity to complete a research based Honours qualifications leading to a PhD or to continue study in graduate programs such as Physiotherapy or High Performance Science. You will also be well placed to find employment as a cardiac technologist, sleep technician, respiratory technician, trainee sonographer or a pharmaceutical representative.
