Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science

Duration: 2 Years Full-Time; Flexible Part-Time Available

Description

Bond University’s Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science is a specialist degree developed by one of Australia's leading Medical Laboratory Scientists Dr Tony Badrick, previously a CEO at Sullivan Nicolaides - a top medical laboratory service provider in Queensland and Australia. The program is designed to have work ready graduates immediately placed in medical laboratories within hospitals or private diagnostic laboratories. Accreditation of this program is being sought with the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS), which will increase employment opportunities within the diagnostics industry. Additionally, the program provides students with the opportunity to acquire outstanding technical skills in our state-of-the-art laboratories.

Work Experience & Internships

The program offers two professional internships, one of which is a large, double credit (20 credit) subject offering greater professional experience.

Professional Outcomes

Graduates will be able to work as medical scientists in diagnostic laboratories in both the public and private sector (hospitals, pathology laboratories etc). Opportunities also exist to specialise in fields such as microbiology, immunology or pathology. Alternatively graduates may wish to undertake medical research by studying for a PhD in a specialised field of interest.

Further Study

Graduates can undertake research-based Honours study leading to a PhD or undertake further study in medicine, pharmacy, nutrition and dietetics, medical laboratory science, exercise/sports science or rehabilitation.
