Academic Requirements
In evaluating an application for admission to the Honours program, the following will be considered by the Honours committee:
- The undergraduate record of the applicant, and the completion (or expected completion) of a relevant bachelors degree. The standard for admission into the Honours program is an overall GPA of 2.0 (credit). Eligibility for Faculty Scholarships (Fee-waiver) requires applicant GPA of 2.5 (on 4-point scale) or 5.5 (on 7-point scale).
- A candidate whose GPA is below that required for admission into the Honours program may apply to the Dean of the Faculty for special consideration, but the candidate is unlikely to be offered a scholarship.
- Candidates must have completed at least 60 credit points of study related to the general area of the proposed Honours research project in the last three semesters of their Bachelors degree.
- Candidates must have been awarded a Bachelors degree that is related to the proposed Honours research project within the previous three years
English Language Proficiency Requirements
As tuition is delivered in English, all international students will be required to provide documented evidence of the required level of proficiency in the English language. Read more detailed information on English Language Proficiency Requirements for university study.
How to Apply
2013 Application Process
1. Intending applicants for the Honours program should make contact with the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine to discuss:
- The proposed project. This may be a project based on your own research idea or a project from the current list of available projects
- Availability of suitable supervisors for the intended project
2. Applications must be lodged online by 23 November 2012 and should include:
- Accompanying documentation, including your academic transcript
- Details of the proposed project and potential supervisors
- If English is not your first language, you will also be required to provide documented proof of your English language proficiency.

Credit for Prior Study
Subject credits may be awarded for previous studies. To apply for credits, you will need to submit academic transcripts including detailed course outlines/subject descriptions for each relevant subject and/or certified copies of testamurs at the time of application.
