Basic Mediation Course

Duration:            4 days
Cost:                   $2100

This has been the Bond University Dispute Resolution Centre’s most popular mediation course since 1990. Over one hundred such courses have been run around Australia and overseas. It is a practical training program with various role plays and exercises; together with a critical appraisal of the mediation process.

Note: If taken in conjunction with the Mediator Assessment Course (listed below), this satisfies the requirements for registration as a Nationally Accredited Mediator .

Mediator Assessment Course

Duration:            2 days
Cost:                   $1600
Pre-requisites: Completion of the Basic Mediation Course

This course involves one day of intensive practice with feedback from coaches; and then one day of assessment by role plays of the skills of mediators.

NB This two day assessment course is completed after the Basic Mediation Course. Completion of both courses will satisfy the requirements for registration as a Nationally Accredited Mediator. 

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) Accreditation Course

Duration:                5 days
Cost:                       $2600
Pre-requisites:     Completion of the Basic Mediation and Mediator Assessment Courses; or accreditation as a National Mediator (NMAS)

Topics include:
Different models of mediation; basic facilitative mediation process; skills of listening, acknowledging, reframing, summarising, questioning (LARSQ); negotiation theory and skills; advice-giving; intake process; assessment and diagnosis; managing family and domestic violence, high emotion, power imbalances, vulnerable parties (including CALD parties); FLA obligations on FDRPs; child focussed and child informed FDR.

Note: to meet the strict requirements for completing the Family Dispute Resolution course, at least 10 hours of supervised practice must also be completed. This is not provided by Bond University, and must be completed independently by each participant and the supervisor's report returned to Bond University.

Mediation Masterclass

Duration:        2 days
Cost:               $990

What you've always wanted to try out, but lacked the courage! 

A two day CPD event for seasoned mediators. Topics covering innovations in mediation practice; what I had the courage to do, but shouldn't have; the mediator as "coach" across a wide range of practice areas; the "negotiation tango" in mediation; the psychology of "breaking bread" in mediation; taking the difficult out of difficult conversations and difficult people.

Conflict in Schools

Duration:          1 day
Cost:                 $275

This workshop has been designed for school teachers, administrators and heads. Learn about  how to manage unsatisfactory behaviour, applying a useful formula for conducting a successful difficult conversation,  preparing  for a difficult conversation,  develop practical skills and empowering and coaching staff to manage their own conflict without your direct involvement,  process and skills of mediation in a school environment, micro skills of responses and language in mediation situations, methods of learning include short lectures demonstration, demonstration by facilitator, brain storming, sharing experiences, role plays and group discussion.

Negotiation Course

This course has been adapted around the world for schools, court officials, doctors, builders, and law firms over the last 20 years. In-house 1 or 2 days.

Advanced Commercial Negotiation Strategies

Looking at a range of issues that impact on the negotiation process, including strategies, tactics and the causes of conflict. In-house 1 or 2 days.

Representing Clients in Mediation and Negotiation

Preparation and practice at representing clients at negotiation or mediation, incorporating role plays and interactive exercises. In-house 1/2 day or 1 day.

Training Mediation Trainers

Special Bond course developed for training trainers of mediators. Presented nationally and internationally for judges and trainers by arrangement. In-house 5 days.
