Cultivating Successful Entrepreneurs Bond students have a longstanding history in the John Heine Entrepreneurial Challenge, an Australia-wide business plan competition for university based teams. The competition is designed to increase the success rate of new ventures and encourage young entrepreneurs. Winners of the John Heine Challenge receive automatic entry to the prestigious international Venture Labs Investment Competition (formerly Global MOOT CORP® Competition) at the University of Texas at Austin. The winners compete against over 30 teams from the best business schools around the globe and present their business plans to panels of investors. We would like to congratulate the 2011 John Heine winner, Shilo Mahoney, a Bond EMBA student, for his triumph with his business idea “Robertson International Academy”. The Robertson International Academy would fill a significant gap in the market by providing International Baccalaureate, Diploma of Business and English language studies for international and domestic high school students in the 14 to 17 age group. Shilo’s prize included $10,000 in seed funding for his new venture and $15,000 to cover the cost of his travel to Texas in May 2012 to compete in the international Venture Labs Investment Competition.
