The Faculty of Business is once again hosting a Business Links seminar for business professionals and the local community. This seminar is a key event on the business calendar where attendees can learn from internationally renowned business experts.
In this seminar, entitled 'The Various Guises of Jurisdictions ‘Adoption’ of IFRS Around the World', Professor Stephen Zeff examines the jurisdictional factors that constitute challenges to achieving genuine worldwide comparability of company financial reporting.
He discusses the distinctive processes of various jurisdictions when signing on to IFRS and impediments such as concerns about the impacts of IFRS on the banking and other industrial sectors.
Finally, there will be a discussion of the variation among jurisdictions in (1) the required wording in the auditor’s opinion on a company’s compliance with IFRS and (2) the extent of vigilant regulation in securing company compliance with IFRS.
