IT students get real-world experience

14 September 2011

Bond University received the most five-star ratings of any Australian university in the recently released Good Universities Guide. Our five-star rating in ten categories demonstrates our relevant coursework and the real-world experience that students receive by completing a degree at Bond.

School of Information Technology students in their final semester of a Bachelor of Information Technology get a chance to put their knowledge and skills to the test by working on a practical project with an industry partner.

The IT Capstone Project is an interactive subject where students work on a project task provided by a mentoring industry partner.

In the recent semester, students worked on a number of projects for companies including N3V Games, Talk-Up Communications, Varsity Printing and Bond Information Services.

One of the students developed a computer game, which was built with a ‘Unity Engine’ platform, enabling it to run on both Apple and PC. Another group of students developed a mobile app for bus timetables to and from Bond University.

Representatives from some of the companies were able to attend the student presentations and will now review the projects completed by the students.

The IT projects enable students to apply and demonstrate their skills in a practical work-related environment. This is just one example of how Australia’s highest rating university is preparing graduates for the real-world.
