Bond University hosts IBM EXITE Camp

19 September 2011

Thirty female students aged between 13 and 16 came to Bond University recently to participate in the IBM EXITE Camp. EXITE is an acronym for Exploring Interests in Technology and Engineering. The camps are aimed at fuelling girls’ interest in taking maths and science classes throughout high school.

The three-day camp was hosted by the School of Information Technology and incorporated a range of technology and engineering activities to help the girls understand how rewarding a career in IT can be.

Participants were introduced to a variety of technologies from mobile application development to QR codes in the excellent learning environment at Bond.

The camps also have a mentoring program which matches the students with female IBM volunteers who serve as e-Mentors throughout the school year as part of IBM MentorPlace program.

Supporting the IBM EXITE Camp is another way Bond’s School of Information Technology is helping to develop the next generation of IT industry leaders.
