What is accounting?

Accounting is essentially the ‘language of business’. A successful accountant is a business professional with strong financial skills, strategic planning and leadership skills, as well as excellent technical accounting skills. Accountants take on a large number of roles in organisations including chief executive officers or managing directors of their own companies.

Accounting courses and subjects

• Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) – For students who don’t already have a university degree and are interested in accounting related careers. 
• Master of Accounting – For students who already have a Bachelor degree in another field but would like to add a professional accounting qualification.
• Master of Accounting (Professional) – For students who already have a Bachelor degree in another field but would like to add a professional accounting qualification. It includes a 20-week work integrated learning component which is particularly suited to international students.
