The Ripple Effect of Positive Change

Hear from one of Australia's national excellence in teaching award winners, Professor Amy Kenworthy, as she shared the history, growth and outcomes of the 'One Goal, One Community: Moving beyond bullying and empowering for life' program.

Professor Kenworthy's fundamental ethos is the ripple effect of positive change - the idea that every single person has the potential to be an agent of positive change to make a difference in the community.

For members of the community already familiar with the One Goal, One Community program - there will be some minor overlap with the 2010/early 2011 presentations, however there will be a significant portion that is different.  The presentation will have a program-level component aimed at educators, business owners, and the wider community that is very different than the student-oriented content of the school presentations.

This will be a highly interactive, visual and powerful presentation that will share principles, stories and information that have relevance to the whole community.

The 'One Goal, One Community' program is designed using tenets of service-learning and persuasion to provide information about bullying and ways to address it to students, parents and other community members through partnerships with schools, businesses and community organisations.  To date, over 40,000 people have made commitments to engage in positive anti-bullying behaviour as a result of this program, through partnerships with 25 schools and over 200 organisations across Australia, as well as in two regions of the United States.

The presentation session will run from 5.30 to approximately 6.45pm, after which refreshments will be served in the Cerum Theatre foyer & outdoor al fresco area, providing an opportunity for networking, interaction and further discussion.

You can find the Cerum Theatre on Level 3 of The University Centre (Building 6). 
The closest parking for the Cerum Theatre is the general parking area shown on the campus map as PG3.  Enter PG3 off University Drive, turning left just past the Mirvac building - The Terraces are on the right hand side of the driveway entrance.
 
From parking area PG3, follow the footpath along the road heading up the hill, then turn right at the crest of the hill, following the signs to Cerum Theatre.
