Primary Health Care Research, Evaluation and Development (PHCRED) Collaboration PHCRED at Bond University has entered the fifth year of program funded by the Department of Health and Aging that supports capacity building in the primary health care sector to establish a sustainable research, evaluation and development culture and implement major research findings in primary health care practice. The Queensland State-wide PHCRED Collaboration encompasses programs at Bond University, Griffith University, James Cook University, Mount Isa Centre for Rural and Remote Health and The University of Queensland. The PHCRED strategy provides opportunities for GPs and other primary health care clinicians to develop research skills, knowledge and experience. Through mentoring and training, the strategy encourages clinicians to access and use the best evidence available to guide their decision-making. Training for GPs and other primary health care clinicians is designed to enable professionals to access research from and apply evidence to their own individual settings. Workshops, post-graduate coursework and higher research degree participation targeting primary health care professionals is a major platform of the Queensland consortium’s day to day work. Clinical research networks exist in Queensland to facilitate the dissemination and uptake of evidence-based practice. To date, the research design and implementation is guided by a federation model of networks administration whereby members vote and agree to a consensus selection of the research focus and topic. Meetings to pose evidence-base research questions and select the project topic are held bi-annually. PHCRED at Bond University offers statistical assistance (6KB PDF) for GPs and other primary health care clinicians to undertake research. Key Contacts Fellowships and Grants PHCRED at Bond University also offers a number of entry points to get started on your research from fellowships designed for early career researchers to writing grants. Your local PHCRED Coordinator can provide more details on the application process and opportunities that are being offered.
