Film and TelevisionBond University’s Bachelor of Film and Television degree is intensely practical, hands-on and project-based, which allows students to immerse themselves in a total filmmaking experience. Each year students make over 400 film and television productions and each student has the opportunity to direct three short films. The Film and Television program carefully balances industry standard professional production techniques with carefully selected creative practice theory, enabling students to explore and develop their individual creativity. The course is heavily focused on the key creative areas of screenwriting, producing, directing, cinematography, sound design, editing and production design. Within this intensely creative environment students form lasting friendships and partnerships that form the foundations of their careers once they graduate. Throughout their studies students have access to Hollywood standard equipment and facilities, including film cameras, all with Zeiss prime lenses, over 40 Mac editing suites, a Pro-Tools HD 5.1 audio mixing suite, a fully equipped three-camera digital television studio and the Equipment Loan Store with a large range of professional industry standard lighting, camera and sound equipment. We go to great lengths to ensure our students are educated in a professional working environment which prepares them for the international film and television industry after they graduate. Located in one of Australia’s major movie-making centres, and not far from the Village Roadshow Movie Studios, the Bond University Film and Television program is well connected to the Australian film-making industry. Our professors and lecturers are all genuine industry professionals. They remain active in the industry and have strong relationships with film, television and media production companies. Short films produced by students as part of their courses have won many awards at local and national film festivals, with many graduates going on to achieve recognition in some of the world’s most prestigious festivals such as the Cannes Film Festival, St Kilda Film Festival, Tropfest, the Queensland New Film Makers Awards and Sundance. Bond Graduate Tommy Wirkola is the writer/director of the feature film “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters” to be released worldwide in 2013 by Paramount Pictures and Metro Goldwyn Meyer. Bond University also runs the Bond University Film and Television Awards (BUFTA) each year. BUFTA is a short film competition for Australian Year 11 and 12 secondary school students and offers a major prize of a full tuition scholarship to study a Bachelor of Film and Television at Bond University.
