Bond Talks presents Dr Vicki Bitsika on autism spectrum disorders

 

Bond Talks is a community lecture series featuring some of Australia’s leading researchers talking about their areas of study and practice.

Hear from Dr Vicki Bitsika as she presents important findings about effective assessment and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Dr Vicki Bitsika is the Director of Bond’s Centre for Autism Spectrum Disorders and one of Australia's leading authorities on this topic.  She has specialised in the assessment and treatment of individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder for 25 years. 
Vicki has worked extensively, hands-on with children, adolescents, and adults on the autism spectrum, and also trained parents in techniques for managing the behavioural challenges their children experience in the home environment.
Dr Bitsika's current research is focused on sensory processing patterns in school children with an autism condition, support programmes for siblings, psychological outcomes for parents of children with an autism condition, and classroom techniques for working with the challenging behaviour of students with an autism condition. 
Dr Bitsika received an ALTC citation award in 2009 for development of innovative curriculum in Behaviour Management.  She was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship in 2010 to travel to the USA and UK to investigate best practice intervention technologies for individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The Cerum Theatre is located in the University Centre, Building 6 on the Bond University campus map. 
Best parking for the Cerum Theatre is the general parking area shown on the campus map as PG3. 
From parking area PG3, follow the footpath along the road heading up the hill, then turn right at the crest of the hill, following the signs to Cerum Theatre.
