The Second Annual Miscarriages of Justice Moot is now open for registration. Students who have NOT participated in an intervarsity moot competition (or who are not enrolled in one currently) are eligible to compete.
The moot itself will take place in week 8, so you don't have long to prepare! Don’t delay, form a team and sign up today.
There are cash prizes for the overall winners, runners up, the two non-final-qualifying semi-finalist teams and the Best Oralist.
The purpose of this competition is to encourage those of you who have not mooted before to stand up and 'have a go'. This is a great opportunity to start your mooting career as this competition is for beginners only! Our current experienced 'star mooters' are not eligible to compete in this competition, so your winning chances are greatly enhanced.
The final of the competition will be judged by The Honourable Michael Kirby AC CMG, former justice of the High Court of Australia on Thursday, 1 November 2012 so be prepared to impress! Details of the grand final of the competition will follow at a later date.
Two workshops will be held to help you prepare. The first will be held this in THEATRE 4 ON FRIDAY, 19 OCTOBER AT 10am. If you’ve never mooted before, this workshop will give you all the information you need to prepare your moot. The second workshop will be held in Week 7 – and will concentrate on the problem itself.
There are videos available in the law library that will also show you the basics of mooting preparation. Please also see the online Mooting Toolkit we have prepared.
