Will my French law degree allow me to practise in Australia?
France uses a civil law system which is significantly different from the common law system used in Australia. Overseas graduates must have their law degree assessed and complete the required Australian law subjects (usually at least 12) at a recognised Australian law school. French graduates normally opt to complete the Juris Doctor program, plus a 30 week Professional Legal Training Program (PLT) program to be eligible for admission to legal practice in Australia.
Can Bond Perform the assessment of your degree?
Assessments of overseas legal qualifications for admission in Queensland are conducted by the Legal Practitioners Admission Board. They can be contacted at email@example.com.
