Professional admission in Malaysia
To be eligible to enter pupillage in West Malaysia, graduates must complete examinations for the Certificate in Legal Practice, administered by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board.
Australian graduates are eligible to enter pupillage in Sabah and Sarawak without further study.
Note that admission rules are subject to change. The rules in each jurisdiction should be examined carefully to determine the requirements.
Students who have not completed a first degree must enrol in the LLB program. Credit towards the elective component of the LLB degree will ordinarily be given for at least four subjects from any pre-law university studies. Students who have already completed a first degree may enrol in the Juris Doctor (JD) program. However, only the LLB is recognised for the purposes on admission to the legal profession in West Malaysia.
