Research ProposalStudents applying for admission to a research degree must include a research proposal. The proposal should provide the following information as a minimum: - Literature Review – What is the problem at hand and what does the current literature say about it?
- Rationale – Why is this an issue? Provide a descriptive summary about what you plan to investigate, what you will cover, why it’s important, and how it differs from what others have already done.
- Methodology – How are you going to go about researching this? What methods will you use? Are you going to be using primary resources? Secondary? Tertiary? Interviews? Surveys?
- Chapters – What are the main points you want to cover? Sequence them.
- Timeframe – Outline what you propose to do, and when. Once you have done this, consider if the deadlines you have given yourself are feasible to complete what you’re asking, to an acceptable level for this degree. If not, re-evaluate.
- Outcomes – What do you expect to find? What don’t you expect to find? Why?
