Law PrizesThe John F Kearney Law Gold MedalThe Law Gold Medal, donated by Dr John Kearney QC, may be awarded in January to a student who has fulfilled requirements for graduation in the preceding calendar year. In order to be eligible for the Gold Medal, a student must have completed at least 20 law subjects at Bond University. The best 20 law subjects are used in calculating academic achievement. The medal will only be awarded if there is a graduate of sufficient merit and it will not necessarily be awarded each year. A trophy and $1,600 is awarded annually to the student judged to be the best overall performer in the Faculty of Law during that year. Students will be assessed on the following criteria: - academic performance in all subjects undertaken during that year;
- performance in mooting, negotiation and mediation and other practical skills exercises; and
- other relevant activities, such as public speaking, student or community services.
The Queensland Law Society Prize is to be awarded to the graduating Bachelor of Laws student achieving the highest aggregate marks in the following subjects: Legal Reasoning, The Law of Civil Remedies, Principles of Tortious Liability, Principles of Contractual Liability, The Law of Obligations, Property Law, Land Law, Business Associations and Corporations Law. John Lessing Bond Law Spirit AwardThis is awarded annually to the student who displays exemplary conduct, or the type of behaviour others should emulate. This is not an academic award and the categories of conduct are not closed. It encompasses, for example, a student who assists other students to understand complex topics or provides encouragement or motivation, without any expectation of reward, or a student who contributes selflessly to the Bond community or the community at large.
Faculty of Law Awards NightThe Faculty of Law Awards Night is held each semester to congratulate students on their achievements from the previous semester of study. The event is attended by student prize winners, their respective family and friends, academic staff and Law Awards sponsors.
