Current ProjectsPreparation of ARC Discovery Grant applicationsThe Centre has submitted one ARC Discovery grant application and will begin development of at least two others during 2011. The projects will be focused squarely on the core business of the centre; they will deal with international research exercises, some of them utilising data gathered in conjunction with the World Bank work currently being undertaken by centre staff. The first application is headed by Prof Langston who has already had several ARC successes. Production of a new book: “Measuring the construction industry”Jim Meikle and Rick Best have signed a contract with Taylor& Francis to produce an ideated book dealing with issues such as international construction cost and productivity comparisons. Chapters will be written by various members of the CCCR team as well as by other external authors. The book is scheduled to appear in mid-2013 under the Routledge imprint. Participants roundtableFollowing the very successful workshop held at Bond University in May 2012 a second workshop is planned for May 2013. This is timed to coincide with the CiB World Congress that is to be held in Brisbane 5-9 May. The workshop is not restricted to members of the CCCR and interested people should contact Dr Rick Best for further information or to register their interest in attending the workshop. Individual and joint publicationsIndividually and jointly centre members will continue to produce refereed conference and journal papers. Where appropriate the centre’s research assistant will provide support. Pursuit of funding from external sources other than ARCFunding/sponsorship will be actively sought through a number of channels including professional bodies (the RICS is already considering a proposal for sponsorship of the centre), government departments and agencies and industry partners (contracting and quantity surveying firms).
