Centre for Comparative Construction Research (CCCR)

Mission
The Centre for Comparative Construction Research (CCCR) will conduct research and produce outcomes focused on comparative studies of a number of aspects of the construction industries of various countries. The centre’s expertise will therefore meet the University’s strategic goals in a number of key areas including development of research profile, increases in quality and quantity of research output and development of research-active staff in a well-supported and structured environment. Our aim is for the CCCR to become a University Research Centre within five years.

Core objectives comprise:

  • Embark on an active campaign to generate funding from the Australian Research Council, and other funding bodies such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (our team has a track record of success in doing this)
  • Engage in contract consultancy for government and industry stakeholders both local and international (our team has a track record of providing consultancy services)
  • Seek funding and in-kind support from Australian and international firms to underpin applied research (our team is well-connected locally and internationally and have the personal contacts to develop joint projects with these firms)
  • Supervise research degree candidates and provide a research hub for that purpose (our team brings a strong track record in supervising postgraduate students)
  • Conduct conferences and other events to lift the research profile of the university and produce high quality publications (our team has a considerable track record in convening events and in publication)
  • Liaise with relevant professional bodies and work with them to use the centre’s experience and track record to promote the centre’s activities locally and abroad (our team has strong long-term links to most of the relevant bodies and are actively involved in the affairs of those bodies).
