Measuring Construction workshop

The Centre for Comparative Construction Research hosted a workshop at the Mirvac School of Sustainable Development on 3-4 May 2012. The CCCR’s director, Dr Rick Best, convened the event at which a number of discussion papers were presented and issues arising were explored and debated as a precursor to the production of a book. A contract has now been signed with Routledge in the UK to publish the book, entitled Measuring the Construction Industry: Productivity, Output and Prices, in 2013. The book will be edited by Jim Meikle and Rick Best and will include chapters written by a number of those who participated in the workshop as well as several invited authors.

The workshop focused on two main themes: construction industry productivity measurement and and international construction cost comparisons.

The CCCR would like to acknowledge the generous contribution made by Laing O’Rourke towards the cost of bringing Prof Ken Walsh to Bond University in April/May 2012. Prof Walsh’s input to the workshop was invaluable and would not have been possible without their support.

A second workshop is planned for early May 2013. It will be timed to fit with the CiB World Congress that is being held in Brisbane 5-9 May.
