Message from Head of School

2011 has seen the first, small cohort of students embark on their Bachelor of Architectural Studies undergraduate degree … a six semester program to be followed by 2 semesters of work experience and then four semesters of Masters of Architecture.

The program is design focused and supplemented by practical workshop activities, field trips, symposia and visiting speakers. Studio assignments have been purposefully designed to introduce the students to the intellectual, material and spatial culture of architecture; seeing, understanding and responding o the parameters of place; recognizing landscape as architecture … all intended to foster design and strategic thinking skills and the value of risk taking in the creative process.

The school sits within the Institute of Sustainable Development and Architecture in order to benefit from cross discipline studies in urbanism, planning and sustainability.

Teaching facilities are to be expanded in 2013 with the construction of a competition-winning design by CRAB Studio London in association with Populus and Brit Andresen.

The vision to establish a school of architecture at Bond University has been made more achievable through the passion for architecture and generous financial assistance of Dr Soheil Abedian. And I regard it as a privilege to play a role in the education of architecture students within the Soheil Abedian School of Architecture.
