Message from the Managing Director of Mirvac Since 2006 when we formed our partnership, Bond University’s Mirvac School of Sustainable Development has been delivering a focused educational program producing future business leaders with a strong commitment and practical understanding of sustainability, housed in a world leading Green Star rated teaching facility. Mirvac’s own commitment to sustainability is outcomes-based, innovative and founded on the belief that, as a company, we have a wider responsibility for our contribution to have a lasting impact. Sustainability is about creating a lasting legacy for the planet and for our people. Our partnership with Bond University is an important demonstration of that holistic approach. Further recent achievements include: - Developed Australia’s first 6 Star-rated residential estate at Waverley Park, Victoria and built Australia’s first zero carbon home, ‘Harmony 9’ within the Waverley Park master planned estate
- Received top ranking for the Real Estate sector in the inaugural Global FTSE4Good Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) ratings system
- Currently developing a second 6 Star Green Star building at 8 Chifley Square, Sydney, NSW
- First major hotel group to use the NABERS Energy and Water Ratings
- Developed Australia’s largest residential application of cogeneration at The Royal Newcastle, New South Wales.
Mirvac recognises that acting in a responsible and sustainable manner creates new opportunities, enhances investor value, and improves social and environmental returns. The students who graduate from this School will be industry leaders in implementing responsible and practical sustainability management initiatives and will help build a national focus on this very important topic.
