The following checklist should help you remember everything you need to do before you get on the plane to your new life! (needs to be printable)
- Sign and accept your Offer Letter, making sure that all of the information including name, date of birth, and course details are correct. Also check the course outlines, duration, and assessment methods of your course so you know what to expect when you start studying.
- Pay your first semesters tuition fees. You can do this by following the instructions on your Offer Letter.
- Pay for your Overseas Student Health Cover (arranged by Bond University and included in the tuition fees).
- Make sure your passport is valid for the duration of your course.
- Obtain a Student Visa for the duration of your course. Visit www.immi.gov.au for more information.
- Become familiar with your Visa regulations.
- Make Travel Arrangements including flights and if you need any temporary accommodation.
- Arrange your Airport Pick-up (link to airport pick-up section above) at www.myroom.bond.edu.au. You can do this at the same time as booking your accommodation (link to accommodation section above).
- Leave a copy of your passport with your family
- Leave your contact details with family /friends
- Prepare a budget so that you know what to expect when you arrive (link to cost of living section).
- Organise your accommodation
- Arrange for travelers cheques and a small amount of Australian cash for when you land. Check out the currency conversion at http://www.xe.com/ucc/
- Get a doctors and dental check-up before you leave.
- Pack your bags, making sure the most important documents are in your hand luggage. You will also need to make sure that you pack any items you need to declare separately. This includes all food, plant and animal products. Go to http://www.customs.gov.au/ for more information on Australian Customs regulations. You will need to have easy access to things like:
- Letter of Offer
- Letter of Acceptance
- Receipt for payment of deposit
- Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE)
- Passport
- Tickets
- A photocopy of the photo page and the visa page of your passport and/or e-visa
- any documents to support conditions on your offer letter that you need to satisfy before enrolling in your course, for example original or certified copies of academic transcripts, syllabus or IELTS (English Language) test score?
