The National High School Mooting Competition
A moot is a mock court proceeding. In a moot, students act as legal counsel representing one of the parties to those proceedings, delivering oral presentations of legal submissions, against opposing counsel, before a moot court judge. Hosted by the Bond University Faculty of Law, the National High School Mooting Competition is one of the most established of its kind in Australia. The competition provides an opportunity for high school students from across the nation to learn more about the law and begin to develop tangible legal skills. The National High School Mooting Competition is open to students in Years 11 and 12 at Australian high schools. Teams are made up of two or three students, and the preliminary rounds of the competition are held virtually (online), with the semi-finals and grand final held on campus on the Gold Coast at Bond.
