The Basics

Main Library imageLibrary locations

There are two libraries on campus, Main and Law.  Both are for the use of all students.

The Multimedia Learning Centre (MLC) is managed by the Library and is generally open for longer hours than the two libraries.

Computing support is available from the Main Library.

Accessing the wireless network

All of the public areas on campus are covered by the Bond Students wireless network. You may need to have your laptop or mobile device configured to access the network.

Instructions can be found online and help is available at the Library & Computing Service Desk located in the Main Library. We recommend you use the Bond Students network rather than the alternative WaveLan network, as it is faster and more secure.

Where can I use a computer on campus?

  • Main Library
  • Law Library
  • Balnaves Foundation Multimedia Learning Centre
  • Learning Lounge
  • The Computer Lab Precinct (on Level 1 of the Arch Building under the Main Library)

In addition to computers, these locations provide desks with power for your own laptop.

The Computer Availability page shows where computers are located in most of these locations and which are free in real time.

What are the Library's opening hours?

The opening hours for the Libraries and the MLC change and extend throughout semester to align with the needs of students in the lead up to end of semester exams.

There are a number of labs in the Computer Lab Precinct (you may hear these referred to as the "Bat Labs"). These are open to students 24 hrs a day, except when they are scheduled for classes.

Can I access the Library's online resources from home?

Off Campus Access Image

Yes. Many of the Library's resources, such as databases, journals and e-books, are available online and can be accessed by students both on campus and at home.

Because these resources are subscribed and restricted to Bond students and staff you will need to authenticate, i.e. provide your student IT account username and password, before you can use them from off campus.

Once you click an e-book or database link, you will be prompted for your Bond username and password.

Printing and photocopying

There are printers and photocopiers in the Libraries, the MLC and in a number of other locations around the campus.
For all printing and copying you will need your Student ID Card. Prices for printing and copying can be found here.

Note: the print settings on campus default to duplex (double-sided) for black & white printing. These settings can be changed - ask the Library staff if you're not sure how to do this.

Student Room bookingsGroup Study Rooms

The group study rooms are available for students to book.

The Main library has eight rooms and the Law Library has two.

To make a booking, follow the student room bookings link on the library website.

The Collaborative Learning Room in the MLC must be booked by staff at either the Main or Law Library.

Lockers

There are a small number of lockers available for hire in the Law Library, both short term and for the semester (the latter are restricted to post-graduate students). The MLC has a number of lockers with power for charging phones and laptops.

Accessibility

Information about building access, facilities and services for students with a disability can be found on the Library website. In particular it should be noted that if needed, swipe card access can be arranged to Level 3 of the Law Library for those who are unable to use the internal stairs.

Students who are registered with the Disability Office have priority access to the Assistive Technology Room in the Main Library.
