Direct Exports

The following databases allow you to directly export from the database into EndNote, ie. no filter or connection file is required. Click the database name to see specific instructions for direct exporting. If the database you are interested in is not listed on this page it may be listed on the Filter Downloads page. If you would like further assistance in this area your Liaison Librarian is available to help you.


A+ Education

(use for Australian Public Affairs - Full Text, and Informit Health Collection)

Platform: Informit

  • Mark the references you wish to export.
  • Click Save.
  • Under Output Format, select Endnote Direct.
  • Click Save Records.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.

Academic OneFile

Platform: InfoTrac 

  • Mark the records which you wish to export.
  • Click on Marked Items in the orange menu bar.
  • Tick the box next to Download to mark all the items.
  • Click the Ci icon to access Citation Tools.
  • Next to Export to Third Party Software select EndNote.
  • Click Export.
  • If prompted click Open; EndNote will import the records automatically. 

ACM Digital Library

Platform:  Association for Computing Machinery

  • When you find a reference that you wish to import to EndNote, click on the title of the reference.
  • When the full details are displayed, click on the EndNote Display Format.
  • You will be prompted to open the .enw file; click Open and EndNote will import the record automatically.

BioMed Central

  • Check the references which you wish to import.
  • At bottom of screen, beside the Send button, change the second drop-down menu to EndNote + abstracts.
  • Click on the Send button.
  • You will be prompted to open the .enw file; click Open and EndNote will import the records automatically.

Blackwell Journals

Platform: Wiley

  • Check the references which you wish to import.
  • At bottom of screen, click Download Selected Citations. The Citation Export screen will open.
  • For Format, select EndNote.
  • For Export Type, select Abstract and Citation.
  • Click Go. 
  • You will be prompted to open the .enw file; click Open and EndNote will import the records automatically.


BMJ.com

  • Mark the references you wish to export.
  • Above your results, Select Download to Citation Manager.
  • Click Go.
  • In the new window, click Download ALL Selected Citations to Citation Manager.
  • Click EndNote.
  • If prompted to open the .enw file, click Open and EndNote will import the records automatically.
  • If some of your references do not export, try exporting them individually. 

ebrary

  • View the e-book in the standard reader (not the ebrary reader).
  • Click the InfoTools button
  • Select EndNote & Citavi
  • EndNote will import the record automatically.


Ebsco Megafile Complete

(use for Business Source Complete, CINAHL, EconLit, GreenFILE, Hospitality & Tourism Complete and SPORTDiscus)

Platform:
EBSCO

  • Click on Add to Folder to add desired references to the Folder.
  • Click the Folder icon at the top of the page to display the references in the Folder.
  • Select all items you wish to export.
  • Click the Export icon (the icon with the green arrow).
  • When the new window opens, select the option to 'Direct Export to EndNote, ProCite, CITAVI, or Reference Manager'.
  • Click the Save button.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.

Expanded Academic ASAP

Platform: InfoTrac

  • Mark the records which you wish to export.
  • Click on Marked Items in the orange menu bar.
  • Tick the box next to Download to mark all the items.
  • Click the Ci icon to access Citation Tools.
  • Next to Export to Third Party Software select EndNote.
  • Click Export.
  • If prompted click Open; EndNote will import the records automatically.

Google Scholar

  • To direct export from Google Scholar, you first need to adjust the Google Scholar preferences.
  • Click Scholar Preferences next to the search box.
  • For the Bibliography Manager preference, select 'Show links to import citations into'.
  • Use the drop-down box to select EndNote.
  • Click Save Preferences.
  • Next to your search results you will now see a link to 'Import into EndNote'.
  • Click this link for the articles you wish to import; when prompted, click to Open the .enw file.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.

IEEE Computer Society Digital Library

  • These instructions will work for IEEE results (those which have the yellowish logo on the left hand side).
  • When viewing your results, click Abstract for an item you wish to export
  • Click RefWorks Procite/RefMan
  • When prompted, select Open.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.
  • After importing into Endnote the records may need editing (author's names may be in the wrong format for example).

JSTOR

  • Mark the records you wish to export.
  • Click the Save Citation(s) button
  • You will need to login to your JSTOR account (or register if you have not already done so.)
  • After your citations have been saved, click Saved Citations at the top of the screen.
  • On the next screen, select your citations.
  • Click Export Citations.
  • Click EndNote, ProCite, Reference Manager (download RIS file).
  • If prompted, click to Open the .ris file.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.
  • References may also be exported one at a time by clicking the Export This Citation link on the search results screen (you don't need to register to do this).

Oxford Journals Online

Platform: Oxford University Press

  • Perform your search and the results will be displayed.
  • Check the articles you require.
  • Select the option at the top to Download to Citation Manager, then click Go.
  • At the next screen, click Download All Selected Citations to Citation Manager.
  • Select EndNote.
  • When prompted, Open the .enw file. You may be asked to select the EndNote library you wish to import the references to.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.

Rehabilitation Reference Centre

Platform: Ebsco

  • Click on Add to add desired references to the Folder.
  • Click the Folder icon at the top of the page to display the references in the Folder.
  • Select all items you wish to export.
  • Click Export.
  • When the new window opens, select the option to 'Direct Export to EndNote, ProCite, CITAVI, or Reference Manager'.
  • Click the Save button.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.

Sage Full-Text Collections

  • Use the checkboxes to check the references that you wish to download.
  • Before moving to the next screen of results, click on Add to My Citations.
  • When you have added all the references that you require and to your marked citations, select the option on the right to 'Email/Download/Save/Print'.
  • Click the Go button.
  • Change the Format to Citation + Abstract and click the 'Download to Citation Manager' button.
  • At the next screen, click on EndNote.
  • When prompted, Open the file.
  • You may be asked to select an EndNote library. The references will import automatically.

Science Direct

Platform: ISI

  • When you have performed your search, check the references in which you are interested.
  • Click on the Export Citations link. This will display the Export Citations page.
  • At the Content Format option, select Citations and Abstracts.
  • At the Export Format option, select RIS format (for Reference Manager, ProCite, EndNote).
  • Click on the Export button.
  • You may be asked to select an EndNote library. The references will import automatically.

Scirus

  • Mark the references you wish to export.
  • Click Export.
  • Use the first drop-down box to select Citations, Abstracts and Keywords.
  • For File Format select RIS Format.
  • Select the option to Save file to disk or open Reference Software.
  • Click Export.
  • When prompted, select Open.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.

Scopus

  • Mark the records you wish to export.
  • Click Add to List to add records to your marked list.
  • When you have finished adding references to the marked list, click My List at the top of the screen.
  • Select the records in your list.
  • Click Output.
  • Make sure Export is selected at step 1.
  • At step 2, for the Export Format select RIS Format (Reference Manager, ProCite, EndNote).
  • For the Output option select Abstract Format.
  • Click Export.
  • If prompted, click to Open the .ris file.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.

SpringerLink Online Journals

  • Click Add to Marked Items for the records you wish to export.
  • On the left hand side, click Marked Items.
  • Click the icon with the green arrow.
  • Click the RIS button.
  • If prompted, click to Open the .ris file.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically.

Web of Knowledge

(use for Current Contents Connect, Medline (via Web of Knowledge) and Web of Science)
 

  • Mark the records you wish to export, and click Add to Marked List.
  • When you have added all your references to the marked list, click Marked List at the top of the screen.
  • At Step 1 you can now select the fields you wish to include in the export. For example you may wish to add the Abstract, or Keywords.
  • At Step 2, click Save to EndNote, RefMan, ProCite.
  • If the process does not start automatically, click Export.
  • EndNote will import the records automatically. 

Wiley Online Library

Platform: Wiley

  • Check the references which you wish to import.
  • Click Export Citation. The Export Citation screen will open.
  • For Format, select EndNote.
  • For Export Type, select Citation and Abstract.
  • Click Submit. 
  • You will be prompted to open the .enw file; click Open and EndNote will import the records automatically.
