Filter FilesFor some databases a filter is the best way to get references into EndNote. Filter files are available for selected databases below, as well as instructions for downloading the records from the database. You must save the Filter files in the correct folder where your copy of EndNote has been installed. Typically this will be C:\Program Files\EndNote\Filters\.... Once you have saved the Filter file in the correct location you can use the Import command in EndNote to import the records you have downloaded. If the database you are interested in is not listed on this page it may be listed on the Direct Exports page. - Click on the Save/Mail button; this will open the E-Mail or Save Selected Records screen.
- Under Record format, select EndNote Import - Marc Tags.
- Click on Go.
- Click on Save Selected.
- If the records display in your browser, go to File, Save As.. and under Save as type, choose .txt.
- Save your file and ensure that you save it in text format with a .txt extension. If there is no option to save as text, type .txt on the end of your file name.

- Click on the Export Selected Citations button.
- At the next screen, at Export Type select Abstract and Citation.
- Click the Export Citation button.
- Save the .txt file.

Emerald JournalsNotes for downloading records: - If you do not see check boxes next to your search results, select a tab at the top of the results, eg. Journals
- Mark the references you wish to export.
- Use the drop-down box to choose the marked list you wish to use, and click Go
- Click Marked Lists on the left
- On the next screen select your marked list
- Click Select All, or select individual items to export
- Click Export Options
- Click Download File, then save the .txt file.
- After importing into Endnote the records may need editing (author's names may be in the wrong format for example).

ERICPlatform: US Department of Education Notes for downloading records: - There is a direct export facility from this database, but better results will be achieved by downloading records and importing them with the filter below. To download records:
- Click Add to add references to the clipboard (maximum of 50 records).
- Click on ... items in My Clipboard to view the clipboard.
- When clipboard is displayed, check each record and click on Export Citations.
- At next screen, check Text File and select the format Detailed citation and abstract.
- Click on Download.
- Save the .txt file.

FactivaPlatform: Dow Jones/Reuters Notes for downloading records: - When results are displayed, check the references which you wish to download.
- Make sure the View As option is set to Full Article/Report Plus Indexing.
- Then click on the icon which looks like a computer diskette, and select Article Format. This will format the records for saving.
- When the formatted references are displayed, use your browser's Save As function to save the references. You must save them as a text file (*.txt)

LILACS- Mark the references you wish to export.
- Click Send Result.
- At the top, select the references you wish to export.
- Select 'Send for your Computer in the Format'.
- Select RIS Format from the drop-down menu.
- If the records display in your browser, go to File, Save As.. and under Save as type, choose .txt.

- Select File, then change the Format to MEDLINE, then click Create File.
- When prompted, save the .txt file.

- Click on the My Research tab at the top of the screen.
- Click on the Export Citations link above your Marked Documents.
- Click on 'Download in a format compatible with ProCite, Endnote, Reference Manager and RefWorks'
- The references will be displayed on a new screen in tagged format. Use your browser's Save As function to save this page as a text file (*.txt).
