Filters/Direct Exports/ConnectionsInformation about FiltersA filter is a file that instructs EndNote how to interpret data from another source. It ensures that the information from a database or library catalogue is placed in the correct fields. Because each database offered by the various information providers has its own way to organize data, you will need to choose the correct filter for each database. Endnote contains a large number of filters in the "Filters Folder". The Library has provided additional filters that are not contained in this folder. Other filters can be obtained from the Endnote Filters site Macintosh users will need to convert the files to a format recognizable by Macs. Please consult your Liaison Librarian for advice. Information about Direct Exports Many databases will allow you to directly export from the database into EndNote, ie. no filter or connection file is required. Instructions for direct exporting from a number of databases are available at this link: Go to Direct Exports Information about Connection FilesThe Online Search command in EndNote lets you connect directly to online bibliographic databases or catalogues, search for the references that you need, and retrieve those references without leaving EndNote. For this to work, you need to have the appropriate 'Connection file' for the database or catalogue you wish to search. Endnote contains a large number of Connection files in the 'Connections Folder'. In addition, the Library has created a connection file which will let you connect to the Bond University Library Catalogue, which you can download here: Bond University Library
Platform: ALEPH
Download Connection File You must save the Connection files in the correct folder where your copy of EndNote has been installed. Typically this will be C:\Program Files\EndNote\Connections\.... If you do not save the Connection file in the correct location you will not be able to access it from the Connection Manager when using EndNote.
