Advertising Subject Guide

Starting my Research

When starting research for an assignment topic, follow these steps:

  • A dictionary, encyclopedia or handbook may help to clarify unclear terms
  • Determine the keywords to use for your search
  • If these words do not locate sufficient information
    • Find alternative words to use

Where do I look for information?

  • Library catalogue for books and audiovisual materials
  • Library databases (electronic resources) for journal articles, reports and conference proceedings
  • Internet search engines such as Google for up to the minute information

Electronic Resources (including Journal Databases):

The following library databases may be helpful providing access to electronic books, journal and newspaper articles, reports and conference proceedings.  From the library homepage use the Electronic Resources link to find each database.

EBSCO Megafile Complete
Academic Onefile
Factiva 
(Newspaper articles)
Ebrary  (Electronic books)

When searching these databases from off campus you will need to enter your Bond username and password. 

Tips for searching databases:

  •  Use only two or three keywords to begin your search
  •  If you have too many search results, narrow your search by looking for the keywords only in the title of the article
  •  If you have too few search results, try other search keywords 

e-Journal Portal:

To find the full text of a particular journal article, use the e-Journal Portal from the library homepage to search for the Journal Title.

ACNielsen - ACNielsen provides information on topline category trends, consumer and audience behaviour. These items can be found in the Market Insights section of the web site or in the general News area, updated regularly.
Advertising Age - AdAge.com is the Web site of Advertising Age, and contains articles, reports and reviews.
Advertising Federation of Australia -  Found within the Communications Council website is a professional association representing companies in advertising and marketing communications to industry, government, media and the public. Contains news, events and industry information.
