Environmental Science and Management - Research Guide

Journal articles

All of the Library's subscription databases for journal articles can be found on the Electronic Resources page. Here are some of the key databases you might start your search with:

Ebsco Megafile Complete - multidisciplinary database specialising in academic journals, magazines and newspapers, many with full text and images. Select "GreenFILE", "Academic Search Complete" and "Business Source Complete" from the list of Ebsco databases.

ScienceDirect - multidisciplinary database including subject coverage for biological and environmental science journals. Access is available to full-text articles for the current five years.

ProQuest - multidisciplinary database containing academic journals, theses, trade magazines with subject coverage on business, economics, science and news and current affairs.

Academic Onefile - multidisciplinary database with subject coverage on environmental science, management, degradation, monitoring, policy, protection and many more.

SpringerLink Online Journals - multidisciplinary database with subject coverage including the earth and environmental sciences.

Wiley Online Library - full text access to around 1400 Wiley ejournals including coverage for earth sciences and environmental studies.

Summon - searches over 50 databases at once and is probably the easiest way to search across the greatest number of journal articles. Once you've done your search, click 'Journal Article' on the left to limit your results to the available journal articles.

If you're looking for a specific article, or want to know if you can access a specific journal, enter the name of the journal into the e-Journal Portal.


Specialised Electronic Resources

SourceOECD - contains statistical databases, books and journals including Environmental Performance Reviews, Environmental Data: Compendium, Environmental Outlook and Environmental Working Papers.

ENDANGER (via Informit) - includes abstracts from mostly Australian journals, book chapters, newspaper articles, magazines, theses and audiovisual material relating to threatened Australian flora and fauna.

EVA (via Informit) - holds abstracts from journals, subject coverage consists of the environment and related fields, including pollution, sustainable development, environmental protection and management, hazardous wastes, recycling and environmental assessment.

Point Carbon - provides in-depth coverage of carbon markets and climate policy worldwide. Our subscription covers content under the News tab.


Books

You can search for books related to environmental science and management using the Library Catalogue. Here are some example searches; click these links to see the available books for each of these subjects:

You can also search for books using Summon (the search box on the Library homepage); there is a video here which will quickly show you how. Whether you use the Library Catalogue or Summon to find books is up to you.
 

eBooks

You'll find eBooks when you search for books using either the Library Catalogue or Summon. If you want to you can search the individual eBook platforms to see what they have: you'll find environmental science and management eBooks in ebrary and EBL


Websites

Australian Environment Portal - find information on policy, programs and legislation to protect and conserve Australia's environment and heritage. Produced by the Federal Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.

Atlas of Living Australia - this site focuses on Australia’s plants, animals, fungi and microorganisms. It provides access to information, including species pages, names lists, ID keys, over 23 million records, photos, mapping tools and more.
