Finding Country Information

The following library resources will provide access to country information and statistics for business purposes.

MarketLine Advantage

MarketLine Advantage is a valuable source of company, industry and country information. Country analytics are available on 215 countries. This includes PESTLE analyses, key statistics, economic  and demographic indicators available in a downloadable report.

Country Reports

To access country reports:

1. Type the name of the country directly into the 'New Search' box
2. Tabbed categories along the top of your first result screen include: All, Companies, Databooks, Industries, Countries, Financial Deals, Opinion and News. Click onto the Countries tab. Your search country will be at the top of the list. Click onto the country name to expand and access the PDF report

Country Statistics

Datamonitor Statistics provides macro/ socio-economic and demographic data on all countries listed in MarketLine Advantage. On the MarketLIne homepage click onto  'Databases' (under Browse by) then click onto Country Statistics

1. Select one or more countries, your required indicators then View Results. 'Analyse Results' will give this information as a graph.

Market Data Analysis

Includes comprehensive data across the global food, drinks, personal care, household products, pet care, news and magazine and tobacco markets.

1. As with Country Statistics above click onto 'Databases' from the MarketLine homepage
2. Select Market Data Analytics
3. Select an Industry Sector
4. Select a Date Range
5. Proceed to Country Selection
6. Select a one or more countries
7. Choose Data Type

ProQuest Central

The Snapshot Series and ABI/INFORM Global are contained within the ProQuest Central databases

Snapshot Series

Snapshot International provides international market research overviews.

1. From the ProQuest search screen choose Snapshots from the 'Searching: 6 databases' drop down menu at the very top, left of page.
2. Type in the name of the country and Search

ABI/INFORM Global

Country reports

1. Choose ABI/INFORM Global from the Drop box in the databases field as above for Snapshots
2. Type the country name into the first search box and in the adjacent drop box choose 'Location'
3. Under Search Options, Document Type choose 'report'

Source OECD

The OECD iLibrary contains all the publications and datasets released by OECD, covering a wide range of economic, statistical and demographic data

1. Simply choose a country from the drop box menu
2. Choose from the initial results page or repeat your search in Books, Papers and Statistics etc

Economist Country Reports

Access the Economist Country Reports through Business Source Complete

1. Type 'Country report' and the name of the country into the first search box
2. Choose SO Publication Name from the adjacent 'In' field
