Bond Uni Golf Club Raises $18,500
for Charity
The Bond University Golf Club raised $18 . 500 to
the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Australia , on Friday, February
20.
Hundreds of business leaders, celebrities and students attended
the first of an annual event at the number one resort course in
Australia , The Glades.
Sandra K Brattstrom, Chairman, Make-A-Wish Foundation attended
the day to receive the cheque .
"On behalf of Make-A-Wish Foundation
Australia, I would like to thank the Bond University Golf Club
for their passionate support of the children we serve and for their
selfless commitment in organising such a wonderful event", she
said.
$18,500 was raised through sponsorships, personal donations,
raffle tickets and the more than 30 exclusive items, which were
auctioned off in the two charity auctions. More than 60 companies
where supporting the event including Bond University, ANZ , Telstra,
NEC, Coca Cola, Dell, AAPT and Salmat.
Items auctioned off included a round of golf for three people
playing with Wayne Grady, Grant Hackett's signed and framed 2000
Sydney Olympic shirt. Pat Cash also contributed by donating his
used tennis racket which was signed; and
a shirt and a signed bandanna.
Unique elements on the course included complimentary massages,
a gambling hole and wine tasting.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Robert Stable
supported the event.
"I am delighted to see Bond University students
supporting such a worthwhile charity" he said .
Special guests include the former NSW State of Origin legends Jason
Taylor and Alan Wilson , as well as
Parramatta eels head trainer, Craig Caterrick and Grant
Jones their Football Manager. Linda Halfweeg ,
the 1998 World Surf Lifesaving Champion. Gavin Hopper former
coach of Mark Phillipoussis, Monica Seles, Wally Masur and Amanda
Coetzer will be playing golf on the day . Also attending is Simone
Donoghue, who competed in the "World Athletics Championship" in
2002 . On top of this the Corey Zeims the Rookie of the year
Surfer last year .
