Research interests
David R. Gallagher is the Superannuation and Retirement Income Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) bid co-leader at the RoZetta Institute Limited and is a Professor of Finance at Bond University.His career commenced with the actuarial and asset consulting firm Towers Perrin (now Willis Towers Watson), and then professorial appointments that included UNSW, Macquarie Graduate School of Management, and a visiting appointment at The University of Texas at Austin.He was CEO of the $41 million UNSW-led Centre of Excellence in International Finance and Regulation (CIFR) funded by the Commonwealth and New South Wales Governments, where the governance board included eminent business executives, heads of Australia's cornerstone financial regulators, and vice-chancellors of the consortium universities. While at UNSW he was also the Director of the AGSM's Centre for Research in Finance (CRIF) that provided Australasian researchers with ASX price-relative data and corporate institutions with market equity statistics.Dr. Gallagher's research interests and expertise span the investment management industry, superannuation and capital markets. He has published in many of the top scholarly finance journals and the leading global investment management practitioner journals, and his research is highly cited. Most of his opinion editorials have been published as a Contributor to The Australian Financial Review, along with appearances on television and radio broadcasts.Dr. Gallagher has consulted widely to both industry and Government. He has acted as an expert witness on legal matters and has served as a visiting scholar at the Investment Company Institute in Washington D.C. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from The University of Sydney in 2002.
