Become a Higher Degree Research (HDR) Student

Apply for a Higher Degree Research Program

It is important when applying for a Higher Degree Research Program that you have obtained the relevant academic background for the study and that there is a willing and suitable supervisor for the student's research topic.

A student interested in research study should look at the research interests of Faculty staff to ensure that the University is able to supervise their topic.

It is recommended that all applicants complete a Postgraduate Application form and send the following documents to the Recruitment and Admission Office at Bond University.

List of Requirements for Research Student Application Forms

1) Certified copies of University transcripts from all previous degrees.

2) A research proposal including title of research and a minimum 2-3 page proposal on the research area, a proposed research methodology (if known), a proposed timeline for the research including progress milestones and key writings in the area.

In the case of Health Sciences and Medicine, a statement of their research interest is sufficient as a research area will be allocated by the Faculty

3) A curriculum vitae resume including personal contact details education background, training and work experience, research / technical expertise and any publications. An example of the student’s work (ie journal article, conference article or section of a thesis documents) would be welcome.

4) A statement clarifying their ability to cover the costs of the degree and living should they not be successful in attaining a scholarship. The statement should also indicate if the applicant intends to apply for scholarships, and if so which ones.

5) Two written references where the referee evaluates the student, addressing, in the top how many % of students, s/he rates the applicant (eg top 5%, top 10% etc) AND name/contact details of referees so that the University can contact the referees for more information if it is needed.

6) In the case of Health Sciences and Medicine or Information Technology, if the student believes they will need any specialist equipment for their research beyond a computer, to write a statement outline the equipment they will need.

NB. The University will only approve admission for research students where a supervisor is available.
