Broad Medical Research Program - Inflammatory Bowel Disease Grants
Provider:
Broad Foundation USA
Details:
Research grants are available for innovative proposals that will lead to improvements in the prevention, diagnosis or therapy of Crohns disease or ulcerative colitis. Preference is given to proposals for work conducted with patients and with strong potential of clinical applicability in the foreseeable future. Research using non-human material should lead to translational benefits to patients with IBD. There are no deadlines or specific dates by which to request funding. Proposals are accepted and reviewed year–round, and the BMRP makes every effort to provide rapid response and funding. There is a two-step process for requesting funding from the Broad Medical Research Program (BMRP) for Inflammatory Bowel Disease: 1. The first step is to submit a Letter of Interest. Instructions and format for Letters of Interest may be found under “How to Apply.” Decisions on Letters of Interest are based on external expert review of the proposal and usually are made within four to six weeks. 2. If the BMRP is interested in pursuing a project, an invitation is extended to submit a full grant application. At that time, the grant application instructions and forms are sent to the Principal Investigator. Decisions on grant applications are made based on external review by subject experts and usually take eight to 10 weeks.

Eligibility:
The applicant institution must be a not-for-profit, charitable institution, such as a university, hospital or research organization. Applications are accepted from institutions worldwide.
The Principal Investigator can be a postdoctoral fellow or someone with a faculty or equivalent appointment at the institution. There can be only one Principal Investigator for each proposal. Basic and clinical investigators, scientists not currently working in inflammatory bowel disease, and interdisciplinary teams are encouraged to apply.
Value:
Budgets should be appropriate for the projects scope of work and absolute needs. All necessary costs for conduct of the study can be budgeted, including items such as personnel, supplies, equipment, publications costs and travel. There is no fixed upper or lower limit of funding, but keep in mind that they are a small foundation with limited funds.
Funding may be requested for up to two years. Second-year funding will be based on an evaluation of the progress and the perceived value of the findings from the first year of funding.
