Evidence-Based Medicine

Evidence Based Medicine is the integration of clinical expertise, patient values, and the best evidence into the decision making process for patient care ensuring optimal clinical outcomes and quality of life.  Evidence based medicine requires new skills of the clinician, including efficient literature-searching, and the application of formal rules of evidence in evaluating the clinical literature. Professor Chris Del Mar and Professor Paul Glasziou are acknowledged as some of the world's leading authorities of Evidence Based Medicine and are successful winners of the most prestigious NHMRC Fellowship award to continue research within this area.

Sustainable Development

Bond's Institute of Sustainable Development and Architecture, comprises internationally renowned corporate consultants with high level academic qualifications seasoned by their practical experience in the field.  Dr George Earl is one of Australia's most respected authorities in the field of community planning and property management. Dr Earl has conducted and coordinated extensive research projects, with particular emphasis on the areas of strategic asset management, housing and finance.

Criminology

Bond University has emerged as a pre-eminent institute of criminology education in Australia, with a specific emphasis on the forensics area.  It was the first to introduce a dedicated subject on criminal profiling.

Service-Based Learning

Amy Kenworthy is the most visible and experienced service based learning practitioner in Australia and the only international researcher to be awarded a service learning fellowship to the US Academy of Management Service Learning Fellows Program in 2001(only one of four awarded worldwide).  Amy's work ensures that Bond students engage in activities that address human and community needs together with structured opportunities intentionally designed to promote student learning and development and also benefit industry and community groups.

Internet Law

IT law researcher Dr Dan Svantesson from Bond's Faculty of Law is examining how legal actions have motivated the use of internet technologies that restrict access to websites based on the web-surfer's geographical location.

Communication and Media Studies

Bond University is at the forefront of the communication and media industry with the amount of applied research conducted by Associate Professor Jeffrey Brand with the main regulatory industry bodies.  Dr Brand's research includes exploring the cognitive and behavioural effects of electronic media on young audiences and researching video games as a dominant form of communication.
